At an event this morning, when signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL), the Managing Director of TotalEnergies E&P Limited and Operator of the Papua LNG project, congratulated KPHL and was delighted at becoming a major sponsor of this innovative initiative.

The Papua LNG project will certainly contribute in a massive way to the success of the roll-out of the platform as the next major project in the country.

We share the same vision of KPHL to create a platform that links employers with PNG’s workforce which relates to two of the major pillars of our National Content ambition.

Papua LNG is committed to providing job opportunities for Papua New Guineans to bring their competencies to contribute to the Project.

Papua LNG is committed to the development of the national workforce, enabling Papua New Guineans to gain experience in their trade and to identify upskilling requirements, which the platform allows for.

All Papua New Guineans ranging from graduates to current professionals to those with technical trades or years of experience in various sectors are eligible and we highly encourage them to register.

The Papua LNG project will benefit where our Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors and their contractors will be able to advertise job opportunities on this portal, plus access the database of Papua New Guinean skill sets.

WAN PNG will provide this direct linkage and, in our view, save time and provide greater visibility of PNG talents.

Workforce development is a key element of the Papua LNG project’s commitment to National Content. During project construction, short-term job opportunities will be created. Longer-term employment and training and development programs will also be offered during the production phase, although fewer in numbers.

Papua New Guinea is entering a phase of strong economic growth, where several resource projects will commence starting with Papua LNG and as such, the launching of WAN PNG is timely.
