On June 5th, 2023, Papua LNG participated in the World Environment Day event organized by the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) under the leadership of Governor Hon. Powes Parkop. This year, 2023, also marks 50 years of celebrating the event globally.
Papua LNG is committed to developing an exemplary project with a strong focus on protecting the environment and enhancing biodiversity.
In this year’s WED event, Papua LNG donated 500 seedlings consisting of 7 different tree species which are suitable to soils within Port Moresby.
A glimpse in pictures
The seedlings were planted with the participation of colleagues from TotalEnergies EP PNG (TEP PNG) at five designated locations around the city. The sites were namely: Sana Memorial Park (in front of Parliament Haus), the University of Papua New Guinea, the Correctional Institution Services College at Bomana, Agua Road at Boroko and the Bisini Soccer grounds.
Papua LNG’s Zero Net Deforestation (ZND) objectives are well aligned with the NCDC’s own objectives to plant 1 million trees around Port Moresby in the next 10 years.
