Local Economic Development

Papua LNG seeks to assist Papua New Guinea towards achieving its Vision 2050 by supporting sustainable economic growth and job creation. It seeks to do so by building the capacity of key stakeholders, effective government and supporting long-term partnerships.

A critical component of the success of the Project is National Content. This involves the development and delivery of local, regional and national economic benefits through supply chain business opportunities, local employment and the socioeconomic development of the surrounding communities. The cumulation of these initiatives ensures that Papua New Guineans will actively participate in and benefit from the Project.

From training and scholarships to business support and local partnerships, the Papua LNG project works alongside government, institutions and communities to build long-term sustainable capabilities that extend well beyond the project lifecycle. This includes creating pathways to employment, enabling local companies to access new markets and supporting initiatives that improve everyday life.

By aligning with national ambitions such as Vision 2050, Papua LNG seeks to support inclusive, sustainable and resilient economic growth for Papua New Guinea.
