
TotalEnergies EP PNG Limited (TotalEnergies), the operator of the Papua LNG project, in alignment with its ongoing commitment to community development, presented Pocket Sunshine solar lamps to Grade 8 students at St John Bosco Catholic Primary School in Kuriva, Koiari Rural LLG, Central Province, on March 1, 2025.
A total of fifty-eight students were presented with the solar lamps by TotalEnergies Asia Pacific Senior Vice President, Mr. Charles Fernandes; TotalEnergies EP PNG Managing Director, Mr. Arnaud Berthet; TotalEnergies EP PNG Business, Renewables, and Carbon Neutrality Director, Mr. Abdul Malik; and PNG Forest Authority Kuriva Plantation Manager, Mr. Tom Bukon.
The Papua LNG Zero Net Deforestation (ZND) Project has been operating in Central Province in partnership with the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority for the past three years with more than 250ha of afforestation completed to date. This presentation of solar lamps is a testament to the ongoing support provided to communities.
In his address to the students, Mr. Fernandes encouraged them to continue to work hard and strive to become great national builders. He emphasized that the solar lights would provide extended study time, ensuring better preparation for their end-of-year exams.
Headmaster Mr. Rave, on behalf of the school, thanked the project and TotalEnergies for their continuous support to St John Bosco Catholic Primary School and the surrounding communities. He highlighted that the presentation signifies TotalEnergies as a reputable company committed to ensuring better community welfare.
