Social Performance

The Papua LNG project operates in regions where communities maintain strong social, cultural and economic ties to their land and environment. Respecting these relationships and working in partnership with local stakeholders is therefore a central part of the project’s development.

Papua LNG’s social performance approach focuses on building trust, maintaining open dialogue and ensuring that the project contributes positively to the well-being of communities in its area of influence.

This approach is structured around two complementary priorities:  

• Stakeholder engagement, which ensures transparent dialogue and responsible consultation with communities and landowners,  
• Community development, which supports initiatives in areas such as education, health and local capacity building.

Together, these efforts aim to foster long-term partnerships and responsible development in Papua New Guinea.
